### Overview

The EDI ANSI X12 945 – Warehouse Shipping Advice transaction is used by third-party logistics providers (3PLs) or external warehouses to notify manufacturers, brand owners, or distributors that goods have been shipped. It confirms the completion of a shipment previously requested via an EDI 940 Warehouse Shipping Order and provides detailed information about the items, quantities, packaging, and carrier used.

With TraceLink’s OPUS Platform and B2N Integrate-Once™ architecture, the EDI 945 transaction enables real-time visibility into outbound shipments, improves inventory accuracy, and ensures downstream processes—such as invoicing and ASN creation—can proceed without delay.

### Key Use Cases

- Confirm that goods have been shipped from a warehouse or 3PL location.
- Provide item-level shipping details, including quantities and packaging.
- Communicate carrier, tracking, and transportation information.
- Trigger downstream processes such as invoicing (EDI 810) and ASN (EDI 856).
- Update inventory records and reconcile against shipping orders (EDI 940).
- Improve supply chain visibility and fulfillment performance tracking.

### Data Elements Included

An EDI ANSI X12 945 – Warehouse Shipping Advice transaction includes:

- **Shipping Advice Number:** Unique identifier for the confirmation message.
- **Reference to EDI 940:** Links the shipment back to the original shipping order.
- **Shipment Date and Time:** When the goods were physically shipped.
- **Item Identifiers:** GTIN, SKU, NDC, or internal product codes.
- **Quantities Shipped:** Actual quantities shipped per line item.
- **Packaging Details:** Pallet, case, or unit-level packaging structure.
- **Carrier and SCAC Code:** Name and standardized code of the transportation provider.
- **Tracking Numbers:** Shipment-level or carton-level tracking references.
- **Ship-To and Ship-From Locations:** Warehouse and customer delivery addresses.
- **Lot/Serial Numbers (if applicable):** For serialized or lot-controlled products.

### Benefits of EDI ANSI X12 945 – Warehouse Shipping Advice
