## General

[![Closed](/sites/default/files/tech_comms/xttexchanges/Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)What are solutions?](#)TraceLink apps are extended through **solutions**, which pull together assets that define how the app looks and functions when users interact with it (i.e. the app's data model, pages workflows, roles, and policies). Solutions available in the Marketplace Catalog can be saved as Company Solutions and configured to meet a company's specific use cases and business needs.

[![Closed](/sites/default/files/tech_comms/xttexchanges/Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)What solutions are available for Extensible Tracelink Transfer Exchanges?](#)The Extensible Tracelink Transfer Exchanges solution provides the user interface for the Extensible Tracelink Transfer Exchanges app.

[![Closed](/sites/default/files/tech_comms/xttexchanges/Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)XTT vs XTT Link Actions Vs XTT Exchanges ](#)The following table distinguishes between XTT, XTT Link Actions, and XTT Exchanges:

Elements XTT XTT Link Actions XTT Exchanges What it is? A generic B2B gateway app for exchanging files using standard transport protocols, e.g. AS2, SFTP, SMTP. A B2B gateway app that uses JavaScript Link Actions to integrate OPUS apps with external systems like ERPs via APIs. A B2B gateway app specifically for 3rd‑party B2B integration platforms such as B2B Exchanges and Value Added Networks (VANs) like SAP Ariba, rather than individual ERPs. When to use? **Standardized Document Exchanges**: If your organization needs to exchange documents like purchase orders or invoices via EDI, email.

  - **Real-Time Data Synchronization**: If you require real-time data exchange with external systems, e.g. ERPs.

- **Modern Integrations**: When integrating with cloud-based systems that support REST APIs and require OAuth2 authentication.

**Specific System Integrations**: If you need to connect via Exchange or VAN, e.g. SAP Ariba that require tailored message formats and API interactions.

Communication method Protocol-based file transfers, e.g. AS2, SFTP, SMTP. API-based interactions using JavaScript for custom logic. API based for inbound and outbound communication. Data handling Primarily handles EDI formats (X12, EDIFACT), SAP IDOC, and emails. Supports custom ERP formats, allowing for more flexibility. Models exchange-specific data formats like cXML.

## Roles

[![Closed](/sites/default/files/tech_comms/xttexchanges/Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)What roles can be assigned to Extensible Tracelink Transfer Exchanges users?](#)The following roles can be assigned to users:

- Application Administrator – Allows users to create and update B2B connections and view B2B messages in the app. The Application Administrator in the Administration app can add users and assign their roles.
- Member - Standard Access – Allows users to view existing B2B connections and the exchanged B2B messages.

[![Closed](/sites/default/files/tech_comms/xttexchanges/Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)How do roles provide users with access?](#)Roles group a set of permissions for specific actions (either in the UI or via API), side menu items, and data within an app. The solution applied to the app or its network determines which roles are available. Administrators assign users to roles when they assign users to an app, its network, or its Links.

Owners assign specific roles to Links, which allow their Partners to assign those roles to the Partner users with access to the Link.

[![Closed](/sites/default/files/tech_comms/xttexchanges/Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gif)How do I add or edit roles?](#)Companies must own Opus Solution Environment (OSE) to add or edit roles. If your company owns OSE and you also have the Solution Designer role assigned, you can add new roles to a Company Solution or edit existing roles by navigating to OSE and selecting Roles in the side menu. See the Opus Solution Environment Help Center for more information. If your company does not own OSE, then contact TraceLink Support for more information.
