Return authorization request/response are digital messages that allows suppliers or buyers to request or respond to the return of items or products sold by suppliers or purchased by buyers. This authorization is necessary when there are discrepancies between the expected items or products to be received and the actual product received by the buyer.

Return authorization transactions are used by MAHs, CMOs, distributors, or retailers to ensure accurate recording of returns and efficient management of resources. The return authorization request or response transaction between buyer and supplier is crucial for efficiently managing product returns. This process allows buyers to request the return of unsatisfactory or damaged products and suppliers to respond to these requests.
